Artist Bio – Carol Black-Lemon
Carol Black-Lemon is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose work explores identity, memory, and the emotional landscapes that shape our lives. Drawing inspiration from nature, culture, and spirit, her paintings—ranging from abstract to expressive storytelling—invite viewers into a world of color, movement, and reflection.
Her recent series, She Worthy, Out of the Shadows, and Beyond the Surface, delve into themes of resilience, ancestral legacy, and transformation. Through these works, Carol balances bold imagery with quiet depth, encouraging personal connection and contemplation.
A native of New Jersey now based in Florence, South Carolina, Carol has exhibited her work in galleries and community spaces across both states. She is also a curator, having led meaningful exhibitions such as Objet Trouvé, The Power of Four, and Sharing Our Stories—a Black History Month project that invited intergenerational storytelling through collage and poetry.
Carol continues to champion artist collaborations, fostering creative exchange between communities in New Jersey and South Carolina. Her work reflects not only a deep personal journey, but also a lifelong belief in the power of art to connect, heal, and inspire.
